Multi-Generational Workforce Event

CREW DC Member Services Committee hosted a round table featuring Valli Swerdlow of Valli Associates presenting the Multi-Generational Workforce topic at Pillsbury Law’s conference center in downtown Washington DC. The event took place on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. It was attended by approximately 50 CREW members and non-members, and included wine and appetizers. The round table was kicked off with Valli’s introduction of the four generations working in the work place presently, including Traditionalists (Born 1922-1946), Baby Boomers (Born 1946-1964), Generation Xs (Born 1965-1980), and Millennials (Born 1981-2000). Following the introductions to the generations, which included discussing stereotypes and challenges working each age group, the attendees were asked to “role play” in a collaborative setting, taking on the mindset of a generation other than their own. The discussion and interactive portions of the round table fostered a new appreciation for each of the generation’s perspectives and contributions to the work force. Many thanks to Pillsbury for providing the excellent venue for this round table, and to Valli Swerdlow for leading this discussion.
