Breakfast Presentation: Golf for Business

The CREW DC Member Services Committee sponsored the “Golf for Business” breakfast event, which took place on April 24, 2012 at the Bethesda County Club in Bethesda, MD. The event was attended by approximately 50 members, including CREW DC, MD and Northern Virginia. After the delicious buffet breakfast and some informal networking, our speaker Stan Gelbaugh, Vice President of Business Development at Coakley & Williams Construction and Bethesda Country Club member, began with a discussion of golf etiquette including basic do’s and don’ts on the golf course. He provided many examples which kept the early morning crowd on the edges of their seats. Stan also provided further insight on how to turn a round of golf into a networking opportunity. The discussion was not a golf lesson but an introduction to conducting business on the course.

The Bethesda Country Club also provided examples of golf clothing attire for women and Stan also provided contact names information for the club’s golf pros at the Club, since you do not need to be a member to use their services. After about 45 minutes of questions the attendees went home with new golf towels and a new appreciation for combining golf with business. Many thanks to our corporate host, Coakley & Williams Construction who provided the buffet breakfast, golf towels and exceptional venue.
