CREW EDU: Re-Defining the SW Waterfront

On Thursday, May 7th, the CREW EDU committee kicked off its 2015 summer series with a presentation on The Wharf development. The focus was on re-defining the Southwest Waterfront and we heard from an esteemed panel of speakers who have all had huge parts in the planning The Wharf development.

We started with a happy hour sponsored by PN Hoffman in the Wharf Marketing Center and heard from the speakers: Elinor Bacon of ER Bacon Development, Hilary Bertsch of Perkins Eastman, Steve Moore of the Southwest BID, and Matthew Steenhoek of PN Hoffman. We learned about the transformation taking place in the Southwest Waterfront, including outdoor spaces, office buildings, housing, retail, restaurants, and even a concert hall! After hearing from the speakers and getting the broad overview from the impressive model in the marketing center, the group boarded the Miss Mallory. The Potomac Riverboat Company generously sponsored the boat tour and onboard happy hour—giving us the opportunity to network and see The Wharf from the water. The boat took us all along the Southwest Waterfront and down to near Nationals Park and then returned. It was a beautiful evening on the water and we especially want to thank The Potomac Riverboat Company, PN Hoffman, and our panelists for making it all so informative and enjoyable!
