University Outreach with UCREW – Volunteer Opportunity

July 6, 2021

CREW DC has been implementing UCREW (a program of CREW Network) locally for the past several years. We’ve presented virtually during COVID and plan to do so for the Fall Semester 2021 (Spring 2022 TBD).

UCREW targets university students (primarily women) to introduce them to the myriad career opportunities in commercial real estate, help them understand how all our specialties contribute to the success of a deal, and provide  professional development guidance. It is created and implemented locally by our dedicated CREW Network Committee, led by Kellie Farster and LaGuardia Myers.

For the 2021/2022 School year, we are looking for CREW DC Members who will volunteer to speak on a panel of no more than four participants. Speakers are limited to allow time for each to contribute, and for interaction with students.

Our theme is “Pathways into Real Estate”. We would like speakers to talk about how they found their current career with a brief introduction to the type of work they do.

Each event would take place (virtually) from noon to 1 p.m. on a Tuesday, approximately once per month in the fall. Specific dates to be coordinated with speakers.

In particular, we are looking for CREW DC Members who can speak to one of the following fields:

  • Finance
  • Development
  • Asset Management
  • Architect
  • Construction
  • Brokerage

If you are willing to give an hour of your time for this event (plus some prep time in advance) please send an email to admin@crewdc.org.

Kellie Farster will reach out to connect with volunteers and sort out details.

We hope you can participate in this bite-sized volunteer opportunity – the participating students have given us great feedback on these events.
