Please join CREW DC for the first book in our Leading with Learning program. We begin this series with “Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin”, by Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.
In the context of this powerful memoir, written by Trayvon Martin’s parents, we will explore a range of antiracist and equity themes, including:
- The origins of the Black Lives Matter movement
- The power and limits of popular protest in civil rights movements
- Stand Your Ground laws
- Implicit racial bias and stereotyping
- The power of media language to shape perception
